Being Trauma Aware

This fall, the SKCAC will launch “Being Trauma Aware; Making a Difference in the lives of children and youth” – an online, trauma-informed training program that will improve understanding of the impacts of child abuse and maltreatment. The program provides foundational learning for front-line child and youth service providers. The five-module program is an entry-level overview/refresher of issues around abuse and trauma that will provide learners with the background and basics to pursue further learning.

“Being Trauma Aware” was developed in collaboration with the Alberta Ministries of Health, Children’s Services, Education and Justice & Solicitor General, the University of Calgary, the Zebra Child Protection Centre, the Palix Foundation, the Canadian Mental Health Association, and the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction. The program was funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
